Meet the artist- Jason Piken

The art I create is inspired by the 5 boroughs of NYC, the music I love, and most of all the colors I like to see. I primarily use acrylic on canvas but some other mixed media comes into play in some pieces.

My process is ever-evolving but generally starts by cranking up the music and then squeezing, brushing, rubbing, or throwing paint onto a canvas. After it starts looking like an abstract painting that would look good on its own, I start looking for shapes and characters within the piece. My work then is to bring those characters to life and add meaning to the final work of art.

I have always been in love with art. I grew up in Queens, NY, just a few minutes from some of the best art museums and galleries in the world, I never felt it was part of my world though. I thought art was something that other people got to make and have in their homes.

I never gave up on my love for art and occasionally would produce something that made me happy. In 2019 something changed though. I threw myself into painting like I never had before and people started to respond to what I was creating.

Meet The Artist

Vanessa Pineda Fox

Welcome to my art website! I'm so glad you're here. I'm an artist who graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a major in graphic design. While I loved working on the computer for various startups and agencies, my passion for creating art by hand truly blossomed when I became a mom. After the busy baby years, I found more time to explore new skills and dive into painting.

As an artist, I strive to connect emotionally with my audience. You'll often find bright, saturated colors or dreamy whites and cream palettes with handwritten words of encouragement woven into my pieces. For me, it's like telling a story on the canvas, with each title and phrase reflecting my stream of consciousness. I love experimenting with different textures, using metallics, mattes, and resin to play with light.

Lately, I've been focusing on acrylics and incorporating new materials into my work. You can find my pieces in local retail locations and galleries around the New York area. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope my art speaks to you!

ARTIST BIO

Alissa Leigh is a fine art painter based in Bedford, NY, known for her dynamic abstract compositions. From a young age, she was captivated by the emotional power of color and its ability to influence mood and perception. Her work is deeply influenced by the psychology of color as well as her time living and studying in New York City.

Alissa's process is intuitive and deeply personal, using abstraction as a means to channel her emotions, regardless of her mood. With sweeping brushstrokes, gestural marks, and vibrant color, she transforms any negativity or tension into energy-filled works that become powerful focal points in their environments. Her art reflects both a commitment to emotional expression and a desire to create positive, dynamic energy through each piece.

Primarily working with acrylics, Alissa also incorporates collage elements, oils, spray paint, markers, and pastels to add depth and texture to her compositions. Her works are held in private collections across the United States, as well as in Germany and Hungary. Leigh has exhibited in numerous group shows in New York and Connecticut, and her work was featured at the prestigious Armonk Outdoor Art Show in 2023 and 2024. She has also held two highly successful solo exhibitions at Chroma Fine Art Gallery in Katonah, NY.

My creative process evolves from ideas and thoughts involving "Impulse and Control".   It's all about decisions, or choices.

It's empowering, and a little frightening at times to realize that our decisions can create our lives just as they create artwork.  Every decision is like a brushstroke across a blank canvas creating our view of the world we live in.  We have control, we have the choice to decide if we are happy or upset at any moment...   though it's not always easy to control due to impulse.

My artwork takes on a life of its own from the very beginning, like our children... and like us. I can guide, teach, protect, and hold onto, but ultimately the future becomes their own, becomes our own.  Pieces are created as a foundation for each viewer to build a personal meaning from their own life's experience, and the titles act as a guide, or starting point for the story that will be told by the viewer.

Originally, from Kansas City, MO and relocated to NY December, 2008.  Creating since graduating from High School in 1994.  I'm inspired by the beauty in the everyday, it's everywhere if I take the time to look, or see it.  I've explored many mediums, including pottery, stained-glass, wood working, and photography but I find my home in drawing and painting.

Natalie Katz

Natalie Katz is a passionate local artist and proud mother of four energetic boys. Drawing inspiration from the world around her, she creates powerful, relatable pieces that speak to identity, resilience, and self-expression.

Art runs in Natalie’s blood—her mother, a gifted artist herself, often said Natalie had been drawing since she could hold a pencil. That creative spark has now been passed on to Natalie’s oldest and youngest sons, continuing the family’s artistic legacy.

Working primarily with gouache and acrylics, Natalie’s current pieces are painted in a bold, vibrant color palette. Her work often focuses on portraits and themes that encourage authenticity and standing up for what you believe in.

You can find Natalie’s artwork in person at the Grand Bazaar on NYC’s Upper West Side, in her online shop, and at various summer art fairs—announced via her [Instagram] and website.

Natalie also welcomes custom commissions—reach out directly for inquiries.
